Played just long enough to beat Dragon Slayer Ornstein & Executioner Smough and advance the story to the next level. The fight itself took me a couple more: I was cornered and killed quickly on my first attempt this session. My basic strategy relied heavily on my magical abilities: basically I circled the outside of the stage, keeping the two bosses within my field of view, and when I felt comfortable enough, I would attack Dragon Slayer Ornstein (Slim) using my pyromancer's flame and Fire Orb (and Fireball, once Fire Orb ran out) that eventually took him down. Once he was dead, Executioner Smough (Fatboy) gains electrical attacks for his hammer, making it difficult to attack from close range and makes dodging his attacks generally a better option than blocking them. What I did was after putting some significant distance between us (and a couple of pillars), I opened up my menu and switched out my pyromancer's flame for my catalyst, allowing my to cast Greater Heavy Soul Arrow and Heavy Soul Arrow. With these spells, it was just a matter of finding the right moment to commit to the 2-3 second casting time. It was a tough fight, but I didn't have as much problem with them as I did with the Great Grey Wolf Sif. And once again I managed to make it through the fight without summoning any allies.
