One thing that I have been noticing as I get deeper and deeper into the career mode in Forza 4 is just how well balanced the AI has been up until this point. At first the computer was a relative pushover as long as you had the right car (specced to be just within the limits of the competition), but in these later races (I'm in semi-pro now) I'm finding that I actually have to fight for the pole position more often than not but isn't impossible to beat barring a horrific accident. I think part of this is down to the fact that Forza 4 no longer has an AI difficulty setting, instead it automatically adjusts difficulty based on your performance. Auto-adjusting AI can be hit or miss, but it really seems to be working out here (although ask me once I get to the really high-difficulty races and I might change my tune). The other change from previous games is that computers can now drive modified vehicles, so instead of facing off against factory stock cars, the racers are tuned within the limits of the competition to be more competitive, just like you are. The end result so far is a much more compelling racing experience, one where I actually look forward to being in the thick of the action, not just wishing I was ahead of it.
