Despite the brainless trappings of Serious Sam 3, there is actually are some tactics involved in the game's combat. Most enemies have a weakness to particular weapons, and finding and exploiting those weaknesses is important if you want to stay alive when you are attacked by a few dozen of them. For instance, you can instantly kill a lot of enemies by melee attacking them, but the animation for these kills leaves you vulnerable and take time to execute, so figuring out which enemies can be safely meleed in the heat of battle is an important part of your strategy. Likewise, dodging and attacking certain enemies and certain times can improve your ammo consumption and significantly decrease the damage you take all at once. All of this would be completely moot if the game didn't force you to consider your approach, but luckily the game is quite difficult, even on its normal setting, so strategizing is a must if you want to survive even past the first few levels of the game.
