Since Tribes exists as a singular entity in the sea of first-person shooters (both modern and old school, Tribes has always been fairly unique unto itself), it takes a while to build up the necessary skills to actually play the game successfully. Today, for the first time, I felt some of the game's principles finally fall into place. Balancing boosting and jetting with skiing, finding the right position to start a chase when the flag is grabbed, and actually hitting enemies with the awkward spinfusor are all things that only now I feel like I am beginning to grasp with any regularity. Luckily, matchmaking in Ascend seems pretty good for the most part, so the people that I'm typically going against are roughly at a similar skill level as me. The toughest time that I have tends to be against clans or teams that are otherwise working well together, as would be expected.
