In the run up to Uncharted 3, I've decided to play through the first 2 games in the series again. I've started pretty late, so we'll see if I can actually finish both the games in under 2 days. I've never been a huge fan of the original game and my most recent playthrough just seems have accentuated its flaws. Waves of enemies make the combat more tiresome than fun at times, a situation compacted by the cover system, which feels clunky and primitive by today's standards. Furthermore, the platforming, while good for the most part, is sometimes annoying when it is not obvious where you need to jump to or when Drake decides to jump in the wrong direction, leading to unnecessary deaths. I'm not going to say that I don't like Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, but it's sometimes difficult to when the sequel trumps it in just about every conceivable way.

Still, all those gimicky mechanics using all the playstation 3's controller features such as climbing across tree stumps and throwing grenades with six axis combined with boring gameplay (such as an entire chapter of climbing the side of a wall) and fighting the exact same group of enemies (as in "I've seen that same black guy and that same white guy 50 times in this game now") for 17 chapters was kind of upsetting to me.
